A Life on the Catwalk
Born in Liverpool in 1986, the future style icon grew up in a bustling household as one of four children.
Abigail attended St. Mary’s Primary School and St. Julie’s Catholic High School.
In 2006, our local girl made it to the finals of Living TV’s Britain’s Next Top Model. She battled it out for ten weeks for a modelling contract, ultimately securing second place.
The show certainly put her on the map, leading to modelling gigs for several magazines and newspapers. By 2007, she graced the cover of Arena magazine, with Sports Illustrated soon to follow.
Her modelling career quickly soared. Clancy was featured on the Elite Model Management: New York division website, collaborated with London designer Hasan Hejazi, appeared in Absynth Photographic’s fashion editorial and Gabriel Gettmann’s fashion film, and landed a coveted cover for British Esquire.
Between 2013 and 2015, our Liverpudlian posed for LOVE magazine’s Advent Calendar and appeared on the covers of British Marie Claire and Elle.
From Model to Television Personality
Alongside her thriving modelling career, Clancy also built a significant presence in television. She hosted documentaries like Slave to Fashion and The Ultimate Bikini Guide for Channel 4 and was a frequent guest on shows such as Richard & Judy, The Chris Moyles Show, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, GMTV, and This Morning.
Clancy even had her own reality series, ‘Abbey and Janice: Beauty and the Best’.
In 2009, she teamed up with Patsy Kensit for Chris Moyles’ Quiz Night, winning her episode and ultimately the first series. Later, Clancy co-hosted the ITV2 series ‘The Fashion Show’ alongside fellow model Michelle de Swarte.
Just a year later, she starred in the ITV2 series The Parent Trip and became a regular guest on James Corden’s World Cup Live.
In 2013, our local talent won the eleventh series of Strictly Come Dancing with her professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec. Two years later, Abigail Clancy became the presenter of the revived series of Britain’s Next Top Model – a remarkable full circle moment, as she had launched her own modelling career on that very show in 2005. A decade on, she was hosting the programme that had given her her big break.
In 2016, Clancy released her first book, “Remember My Name.”
You might have spotted Abigail Clancy in the promo video for the British rock band The Darkness’s song “In Another Life.” She also co-hosts the podcast ‘The Therapy Crouch’ with her husband.
As for her personal life, Abigail married footballer Peter Crouch in 2011. The couple have four children: two daughters and two sons.
Abigail Clancy’s hard work has earned her global recognition. In 2007, she was ranked 37th in FHM magazine’s annual list of the 100 Sexiest Women in the World, climbing to an impressive tenth place by 2010.
